Your cold white teeth reflect back at me, unaware of the rivers held at the base of my stomach.

I should think about the world or its phrases,

I should concentrate on the beginning and end of sentences,

But instead, I stop and wander in hopes to catch your gaze, but you can’t see.

So, I wait.

I wait for the moment to say your name. To hear it in your voice, to stop hiding underneath hide and seek. I tell myself that I might be invisible to the naked eye. Like an atom, ever-present but quiet… shy…

I can explode into a multitude of variations and sounds. I can let my voice trill and crack, but instead I keep my head low, bowed in silence.

Your callused hands play symphonies

Your mind captures the ridges of the skyline, yet you can’t see.

So, I wait…

Patiently
