A Tall Tree

I stood in front of a tall tree
Each limb beckoning to me.
Its trunk wanted to swallow me whole
So, I ran.
The irony of my disposition,
What happened to the heavens?
Fireflies twisted between the leaves
Emboldened my heart.
Tears brought on by clouds and grey skies,
so
I looked up to the heavens in search for the stars,
Yet all I found were the emptiness of the night.
I decided to turn back, but when I looked around I saw nothing but flightless clouds.
